M.I.A.....

Lately I've been M.I.A. from my blog for too long now. I have been in a kinda design lost space. Lost my mojo for it for a min. Well, not completely, but some of the fun has been sucked out of it for me for a while. With hit and miss "potential" clients. Always wanting the works but don't want to pay for it. Then there's how do I get a job doing what I love. Better yet where? Where I'm from there are not a lot of opportunities for a graphic designer. How about the fact that I'm very fresh to the "DESIGN REAL WORLD". There is so much to learn and let me tell you, I'm learning. Then you always have the good ol friend asking for a favor...

Some people don't realize that it's hard work. Designing is actual hard and work! (I would like to repeat that like a thousand times in different ways for people to get the point.) After you do research, comps, sending emails back and forth, phone calls and etc to complete work for a client. It can be very discouraging when all that work was done for nothing. They like what you did, but changed their mind on the direction of the art you did for them. Some just say thank you for all you did, but we decided to not do the project at all. There have been so many bull excuses that clients would give lately that it would make you want to not do work for anybody else. However, not all of my clients have been a dud. I just wish they wanted more so I could do more to push the design of the concept. However, my motto is to always give the client what they want!

After feeling like designing needs to be put on a hold, things started to changes in my life. Like a new job as a technical illustrator. Not as glamorous as designing colorful wow factor pieces of art. However, it's very humbling and rewarding and teaches me that it is art! Taking me back to basics, and I needed that. If the lines are off, strokes too thin or thick, implied lines and figures not quite right. It can make or break the piece of art. All the art is line art, so simple but can be complex at the same time. It has to be done right to convey the exact image you're trying to portray and not easy if you don't how to use you're tools and imagination. Oh yea did I mention it's very time-consuming too.

Well, I'm making my way back to designing because I love it. Starting my jumping back on my and creating whatever that comes to mind! So there's a lot of techniques to dust off and learn. So here I go...
