The #1 Thing I Wish I Knew About Branding When I Started My Business

Focus on Clarity First.

If I could go back and give myself one piece of advice when I was starting my business, it would be this: You don’t have to do it all at once.

When I first started, I was juggling too much—designing logos, creating social media content, writing emails—and it was exhausting. But here’s the thing I wish I had known: none of those things really matter if you don’t have clarity on what your brand stands for.

Without clarity on your position, audience, and goals, your brand messaging will feel scattered, and your customers won’t connect with it. So, what should you focus on first?

The Key to Branding Success: Clarity

  1. Clarity in Your Position: What sets your business apart from others? Understanding your unique value proposition (UVP) is the first step to clear branding.

  2. Clarity in Your Audience: Who are you speaking to? The better you understand your ideal customer, the easier it will be to create branding that resonates with them.

  3. Clarity in Your Goals: What do you want your business to achieve? Having clear, actionable goals will help you stay focused and on track.

By focusing on clarity first, everything else falls into place—your brand voice, your visuals, and your messaging. That’s how I built a business I’m proud of, and you can, too.
